Saanich police are warning the public about a bear that has been spotted in Saanich around the Jasmine Avenue area.

The Saanich Police Department said Saturday in a news release that the public should avoid the bear that has been seen over the last few days.

Police are reminding the public that loose garbage, compost and uncollected produce from fruit trees can attract wildlife from their natural habitat to more urban settings.

The B.C. Conservation Officer Service has been informed about the bear sightings.

Anyone who sees the bear is asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321.
