CRD issues boil water advisory in East Sooke for anyone on the Wilderness Mountain Water System.

The Capital Regional District has issued a boil water advisory for East Sooke.

The advisory applies to anyone on the Wilderness Mountain Water System, which will impact many properties along Mt. Matheson Road, Wilderness Place, Sea Scape Place and Cains Way.

“Water quality may have been compromised due to high turbidity water originating from the surface water source, Wilfred Reservoir,” stated the CRD in a public service announcement.

“As a precaution, the boil water advisory will be in effect until flushing and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health.”

The advisory is set to be removed when Island Health deems the drinking water safe and issues an ‘All Clear’ notice. Throughout a water advisory, household tap water can be disinfected by boiling vigorously for at least one minute.

During the boil water advisory, adults, teenagers and older children can shower or bathe but should not swallow water. Dishwashers should be used on a ‘hot setting’ if available
