A cyclist taken to hospital in critical condition following a crash in Saanich has died, the BC Coroners Service has confirmed.
The crash occurred July 28, between a pickup truck and a cyclist at Greenridge Crescent and Quadra Street, at the Lochside Regional Trail connection, at approximately 11:45 a.m.
Quadra Street was closed in both directions as crews responded to the crash. The BC Coroners Service confirmed the death of the cyclist Aug. 5 but was not able to provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.
The Saanich Police Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation. The Traffic Safety Unit has provided additional support, including crash analysis and forensic identification.
Following the crash, the pickup driver remained at the scene, and the vehicle was seized for examination as officers continued their investigation.
