A comedian, a voice actor, and a former UFC champion will join the Mountain and the Armorer at Island FanCon.

Former UFC champion Forrest Griffin will join Disney’s “Encanto” voice actor Jess Darrow and Canadian comedy star Dave Foley, famous for his Emmy-nominated “The Kids in the Hall” TV shows, at the convention at Centre Park in Langford from April 13 to 14.

Griffin rose to fame as the former UFC light heavyweight after defeating Quinton Jackson in July 2008. UFC founder Dana White widely credits Griffin with sparking the organization’s success after his victory over Stephan Bonnar in 2005.

Darrow voiced Luisa Madrigal in “Encanto” and will be available to sign autographs and attend panel discussions at Island FanCon.

Lonnie Eckardt said he is excited about welcoming Darrow to the Island.

“’Encanto’ has touched the hearts of countless individuals, and having Jess join us for our inaugural event adds an extra layer of enchantment and excitement for our attendees,” Eckardt said.

Foley, who has over 160 acting credits to his name, including “Dr. Ken,” “Spun Out,” “Hot In Cleveland,” “Dan Vs.” and “A Bug’s Life,” will join the growing list of guests.

“Dave Foley is a true Canadian legend, and we are honoured to have him join us at Island FanCon. His contributions to comedy and entertainment have left an indelible mark on Canadian culture, and we know fans will be thrilled to meet him,” said Eckardt.

Creating an exciting atmosphere for attendees is something Lonnie Eckardt, Island FanCon founder, is trying to develop.

“We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where fans can unite to celebrate their fandoms,” said Eckardt.
