Folks watch as Saanich firefighters attack Mount Tolmie brush blaze

Grass fire broke out Saturday afternoon

With park-users watching, Saanich fire crews worked a grass fire on Mount Tolmie Saturday (July 19) afternoon.

Dozen or so bystanders are on hand, some saying they started watching the smoke on the west side of the mountain around 4:45 p.m.

Fire crews were called out just before 5 p.m.

The fire rating in Saanich is “extreme” and the woodland truck was on scene.
