Oak Bay Police received an odd call on July 14.

Officers responded to a report of mischief in the 1800 block of Christie Way, where a large refrigerator "with graffiti referencing a countdown and inappropriate imagery" had been left blocking a home’s front door.

Police say the incident may be linked to a group of local teenagers reportedly involved in pranks.

“While the act may have been intended as a joke, police remind the public that such behaviour can have serious consequences and may constitute a criminal offence,” Oak Bay Police said in a news release.

The matter has been referred to the police department’s school liaison officer for further investigation.
