Get saucy at Esquimalt Ribfest

The Esquimalt Ribfest began on Friday, Sept. 6

Hundreds of Greater Victoria residents danced, drank, shopped, and satisfied their cravings for high-quality meats during the first day of Esquimalt Ribfest on Friday, Sept. 6.

Throughout the weekend, six teams will do a rib cook-off, presenting their creations on Saturday at 4 p.m. to a celebrity panel of judges, who determine the best ribs and the best sauce of the weekend. Those who attend the event will also get their say by voting for the People's Choice Award using paper ballots and a ballot box at the info tent.

The Bullen Park event will be also be packed full of free music and entertainment, craft beer, cider and wine, free kids' activities, local arts and other vendors. The Esquimalt Celebration of Lights and Esquimalt High School Rubgy groups are also running 50/50 draws.

Outside of operating costs, all Ribfest proceeds are returned to the community through the Esquimalt Firefighters Charitable Foundation and the Esquimalt Ribfest Society.

Ribfest will continue to run Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is a cash-only event.
