People of all ages are being encouraged to lace up their walking shoes and hit their stride to raise funds to buy meals for children living in Kenya.

Support Soweto Junior School is hosting their fourth annual five-kilometre walk, which starts and ends at Clover Point.

Money raised from the event helps to feed 300 children living in Kibera, Kenya.

"This initiative ensures that hundreds of vulnerable children receive nutritious meals, crucial to their health and education," said the organization in a press release. "For some of the children, the school meal is the only food they will eat that day."

In partnership, the Kenyan students will also host their own three-kilometre walk to raise awareness about the necessity of their food security, which the organization says enables them to concentrate in lessons.

The event takes place on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. Participants should meet at Clover Point, where they can join the director of the organization, Sabine Laubental, and her guide dog Stella for the walk.

For anyone unable to join the event in Victoria, the organization is encouraging them to host their own sponsored walk in their neighbourhood.
