The Greater Victoria Police Chorus is putting out the call for new members.

Some local police officers are putting out the call for assistants with a very special assignment.

The Greater Victoria Police Chorus is set to begin its 42nd season this fall, but before they head back to rehearsal they will be looking for some new members to join them in a new practice venue.

For their 42nd season, the chorus will get back to rehearsal on Sept. 3, with a new list of songs ranging from choral selections, spiritual, popular ballads, sea shanties and rock and roll.

The male chorus performs a dozen shows a season running from September to May, under the guidance of professional music director and with support from professional musicians.

"The group is seeking to bolster its ranks of tenor, baritone and bass singers as it moves to its new locale at the Sequoia Centre on Falaise Road in Saanich," announced the group.

The Greater Victoria Police Chorus was founded in 1984 by police officers in the Greater Victoria area, it now includes mostly civilian members who sing in Victoria and throughout Vancouver Island at community functions, in churches, retirement homes and legions.
