3 local mountain bikers claim top spots to kick off West Kootenay competition

A trio from Greater Victoria cyclists is hanging out in the front of the pack after sweeping the podium in the first of of six-stage mountain competition.

Victoria’s Quinton Disera, 25, finished first while Peter Disera, 29, of Langford earned second and Rob Britton, 39, of Victoria took third in the TransRockies Singletrack 6 – a six-day mountain bike adventure on stages set in Castlegar, Nelson, Kaslo, New Denver and Nakusp. All three compete in the pro/elite men category.

The first stage featured a “one hour climb, wild fast descent, numb hands. Probably on repeat for the next five days too,” Quinton Disera said on social media after the first stage.

The West Kootenays competition that showcases the best riding in a variety of authentic mountain bike communities continues through July 16.
