One of Greater Victoria’s most anticipated culinary events, Dine Around and Stay in Town began on Jan. 26 and will run for two weeks until Feb. 11
The annual foodie festival is an event designed to give residents an opportunity to support the local hospitality industry during one of the slowest times of the year by dining at a variety of restaurants.
“For two decades, this event has brought together food enthusiasts and showcased the creativity of our top chefs,” said in a statement by Peter DeBruyn, Chair of the BC Restaurant and Food Services Association from the Victoria Branch. “I encourage everyone to dine at one of the participating restaurants, supporting our local culinary scene during this challenging
The event showcases over 45 Greater Victoria restaurants with set-price, three-course menus priced at $25, $35, $45, $55, or $65 per person. To accommodate those from out-of-town, many hotels in Greater Victoria are offering stays at special rates from $149 to $269.
January is typically one of the slowest months for the visitor economy in Greater Victoria according to Destination Greater Victoria. Recognizing this, the Dine Around and Stay in Town program aims to boost business at local restaurants and hotels.
To kick off the festivities, Dine Around and Stay in Town had a gala on Jan. 25 at the Victoria Conference Centre. Approximately 550 attendees enjoyed tasty bites and beverages, lively entertainment, and fostered a sense of excitement for the culinary experiences that lie ahead. In a commitment to supporting local businesses, net proceeds from the gala launch event were shared with participating restaurants, providing a vital boost during the off-peak months.
“During a typically slower time of year, events like Dine Around and Stay in Town play a pivotal role in supporting Greater Victoria’s visitor economy,” said Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria. “This year we celebrate 20 years of Dine Around and Stay in Town, acknowledging the lasting impact these events and promotions have had on our community. We look forward to many more years of supporting local businesses and the tourism industry.”
