Flower power proves to be less popular than once thought, as Harbour Air presses pause on its special flights between Vancouver and Butchart Gardens.
The float plane business introduced flights between Vancouver and the Saanich Peninsula – at both the popular tourist attraction in Central Saanich and Patricia Bay in North Saanich – in late May. The Butchart Gardens trip was dubbed Flights ‘N’ Flowers, an all-inclusive tour with two-hour admission to the Gardens.
“We regularly review our flight network and bookings to ensure that we are flying to destinations most popular with our customers throughout the year. As part of this review, Harbour Air has decided to suspend scheduled flights between Vancouver and Butchart Gardens and Vancouver and Patricia Bay over the summer months,” a statement from Harbour Air media relations reads in response to a Black Press Media request. “We will continue to offer private charter flights and alternative travel options to visit Butchart Gardens via our multiple Victoria flight frequencies.”
Harbour Air plans to reinstate the Vancouver-Patricia Bay service on Sept. 16 connecting Peninsula customers to downtown Vancouver with 30-minute flights.
Customers with bookings on these scheduled route changes will be contacted by Harbour Air or their booking agent to advise of any next steps, alternative travel options or refunds.
Harbour Air is North America’s largest seaplane airline with a fleet of 45 aircrafts and up to 300 daily scheduled flights, scenic tours, adventure packages, and private flights.
