The Collective Wine Bar & Kitchen on Cook Street announced it will be permanently closing its doors after this weekend, becoming the latest victim of trying economic forces for small businesses in Victoria.

“The challenges to small local businesses brought on by recent circumstances have proven insurmountable, and sadly, we must bid farewell to this chapter of our lives,” the wine bar announced in an Instagram post Thursday (July 13), adding that it was with a “heavy heart.”

Over its five years of business, the wine bar quickly became a staple in the Cook Street Village community. The post thanked the wine bar’s staff and customers for their continued support.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support, love, and loyalty throughout this incredible journey. Your smiling faces, laughter, and kind words have truly enriched our lives and made this venture an unforgettable experience,” the Instagram post read.

The comments section of the post already has customers and other Cook Street Village businesses sharing memories from the wine bar and sharing their support and sadness as they bid the wine bar farewell.

“Thank you for being there when I needed a break from my busy world … You will be missed by all of us here at the shop,” read a comment from Surroundings, a neighbouring antique store.

The post also noted that customers should follow their social media to stay updated on the business’s future endeavours.

“Our passion for food, hospitality, and creating unforgettable experiences will continue,” the post read.
