Japanese clothing giant Uniqlo is set to open its first location in Victoria, bringing its popular minimalist apparel line to Mayfair Mall as part of a cross-country expansion.
Victoria is one of four cities added to Uniqlo’s latest round of store openings, joining Calgary, Edmonton, and Quebec City.
This batch of additions will bring the brand’s Canadian store count to 37, up from 33 today.
The new stores will carry Uniqlo’s full range of everyday clothing for men, women, kids, and babies – including its seasonal collections and UT graphic tee line.
Uniqlo first entered the Canadian market in 2016 with a location in Toronto and has steadily expanded into major markets across the country.
Its upcoming Victoria store will be the first on Vancouver Island.
Mayfair Mall, which has recently undergone significant tenant changes, including the closure of Hudson’s Bay and arrival of Korean grocer H-Mart, did not respond to a request for comment on the new store.
Uniqlo operates more than 2,500 stores globally and launched its first store in Hiroshima in 1984.
