A 27-year-old man is in custody after allegedly exposing himself and sexually assaulting a woman in Langford, West Shore RCMP say.
Police were initially called for a report of an allegedly intoxicated man who was exposing himself to people in the the 850-block of Orono Road in Langford around 7 p.m. on Thursday (March 14).
West Shore RCMP say officers went to the area, but were unable to find the suspect. Shortly after, police received another call involving the same man who was alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman by touching her and then running away.
The suspect, police said, initially ran from police, but he was arrested between Goldstream Avenue and Island Highway in Colwood following a brief chase.
He was arrested for sexual assault, indecent exposure and obstructing a police officer, according to the news release from RCMP. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court Friday.
There is no further risk to the public as the suspect is in police custody, said West Shore RCMP Cpl. Nancy Saggar.
