West Shore RCMP say they have arrested a 36-year-old man after he allegedly fled from police in his vehicle, before colliding with a police car in Langford.
The incident occurred just after midnight June 22, when an RCMP officer patrolling the area near Jacklin and Rex Roads in Langford, observed a grey 2002 Chevy Malibu with expired insurance and a stolen licence plate.
When the driver failed to stop when requested, police set up a blockade near the 2600 block of Sooke Road. The suspect vehicle collided with a police car at this location.
Police arrested the driver, who they have identified as Michael Bruce. He has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Bruce was remanded in custody and has an upcoming court date in July.
"Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries as a result of this incident, particularly as the incident unfolded during the late-night hours," said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, media relations officer.
