A driver’s joyride in a golf cart came to an abrupt end on Sunday evening.
Just before 5 p.m. on June 22, Oak Bay police responded to a crash near Oak Bay High at 2121 Cadboro Bay Rd. An investigation revealed that the driver – a man in his 20s – had been “recklessly" operating the cart.
The vehicle, which was licensed and insured, ultimately flipped.
Police issued the man, who sustained minor injuries, a driving without consideration charge.
This was just one of the motor-vehicle incidents that occurred in Oak Bay between June 16 to 22.
At 10:35 p.m. on June 18, an officer was conducting speed enforcement near Cattle Point and Beach Drive when a motorcyclist was clocked travelling 87 km/h in the posted 40 km/h zone, according to the Oak Bay Police Department.
The operator was charged for excessive speeding, and the bike was impounded for seven days.
