A 26-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a youth inside the Tillicum Centre on Wednesday (Oct. 4).

Noel Pich was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault.

A female youth was in one of the shopping centre’s stores around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday when she was approached by a man she didn’t know, Saanich police said in a Thursday news release.

Pich reportedly started talking with the youth and asked her for a hug. Police said he then began to sexually assault the youth.

After he left the store, the youth notified security, who found the man in another part of the centre. Police then arrived and arrested the Pich.

“The youth in this case was very courageous,” said Saanich police Const. Markus Anastasiades. “As she notified security immediately, police were able to identify and arrest this suspect and prevent him from committing further assaults.”
