Man ticketed for driving almost 3 times the speed limit in Oak Bay

A man was issued a ticket and had his car impounded after being pulled over in Oak Bay for travelling almost three times the posted speed limit.

On Saturday, May 11, Oak Bay police were conducting speed enforcement on Beach Drive, which is a 40km/h zone, and observed a vehicle travelling north at 116 km/h.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 32-year-old man, was issued a violation ticket of $483 for excessive speed and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

Earlier, on May 9, a vehicle was seen travelling north on the same road at 96 km/h and the driver was identified as a 19-year-old man with a novice class seven drivers license.

The man was issued a $368 ticket, and his vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
