Road closures will be in place on Sunday, April 28, as the City of Victoria hosts the 2024 Times Colonist 10k and the Khasla Day Parada.
Initial road closures for the 10k run begin on Saturday, April 27 at 12 p.m. on Belleville Street between Government and Menzies streets. On Sunday, Belleville Street between Menzies and Oswego streets, Government Street between Belleville and Superior streets, and Menzies Street between Belleville and Quebec streets will also be closed.
These closures will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Some roads in the area will be opened earlier in the day as officers and race organizers work to limit traffic disruptions as much as possible while keeping participants and spectators safe,” VicPD said in a release.
The annual Khalsa Day parade to celebrate Vaisakhi will also take place on Sunday in the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The parade route will proceed from Cecelia Road to Burnside Road, moving down Alpha Street, Douglas Street, Finlayson Street, and Jutland Road before returning to Cecelia Road. For approximately 20 minutes, the parade on Finlayson Street between Douglas Street and Burnside Road for performances.
VicPD will deploy temporary CCTV cameras and signs to inform the community, which will be taken down following the events.
