Appointments to donate blood and plasma are falling short, according to Canadian Blood Services.
Because of this, Canadian Blood Services in Saanich is counting on people to come and donate this long weekend as they have 324 appointment opening.
Only one in 76 Canadians donates blood or plasma despite one in two Canadians being eligible to give blood, according to the Canadian Blood Services, who also says that all blood types are needed, but the most requested are O-negative, O-positive and B-negative.
Joan McGorman, who celebrated her 50th donation on March 5, 2024, said that it is easy to donate blood and help so many people.
The centre at 3449 Saanich Road has 324 open appointments on Aug 2, Aug 3 and Aug 5.
