UPDATE: West Shore RCMP investigating head-on collision on Sooke Road

A 41-year-old woman, a 65-year-old male and a youth passenger were taken to hospital

West Shore RCMP is investigating a head-on vehicle collision, which closed Sooke Road on Wednesday (Jan.15) morning.

Police say the crash, which took place at approximately 5 a.m. near the 4900 block of Sooke Road, involved two vehicles, and charges have been laid.

According to the RCMP, a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by a 41-year-old woman, was travelling eastbound when it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a taxi travelling westbound.

“The taxi was being driven by a 65-year-old male, with a youth passenger,” says the RCMP news release. “All parties suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital via ambulance.”

Sooke Road was shut down in both directions for approximately two hours while emergency crews, including BC Emergency Health Services and Metchosin Fire and Rescue, attended the scene.
