A motorcyclist's joyride on the Pat Bay Highway was cut short this morning by Saanich police.

On Feb. 21, officers clocked the driver travelling 211 km/h near Royal Oak Drive, where the posted speed limit is 80 km/h. They were subsequently issued a $483 ticket for excessive speeding and their bike was impounded for seven days.

"Riders and drivers, slow down," Saanich police said. "You are endangering everyone on our roads when you speed."
