A new waterslide is coming to Saanich Commonwealth Place. Scheduled for 2025, the new structure will replace the existing one that has been in use since 1993.

Plans are in the works that are sure to make a splash with Greater Victoria water lovers.

Saanich Commonwealth Place will be getting a new waterslide in 2025, replacing the aging structure that’s been in place since 1993.

Following assessments by engineers and the manufacturer, the District of Saanich has deemed it necessary to replace the current waterslide, which is nearing the end of its lifespan.

A request for proposals will be issued later this month to begin the process of procuring a new, modern slide. The new design aims to include updated features and accommodate lower rider heights, making it accessible to more users.

For safety reasons, the existing waterslide will remain out of service until its replacement is installed. In the meantime, staff will continue to offer alternative activities to visitors during the transition period.

The new slide is expected to be installed during the facility’s annual maintenance closure in fall 2025 with the demolition and replacement process expected to take six weeks.

The district plans to complete other capital projects during this extended closure.
