A by-donation breakfast at the Oak Bay Tea House on Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, will raise money for the Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation.

Founded in 1989, the charity supports the Kiwanis Pavilion – a 42-year-old Victoria home focused on helping folks with complex cognitive-care needs. Funds collected at the breakfast, which include pancakes with whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate chips, will help the Pavilion purchase essential items for its 122 residents. This includes everything from bed lifts and mattresses to educational equipment to patio furniture.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will take a short holiday from their work in the North Pole to attend the event, where they will deliver small presents to the kids in attendance. Live music will lift attendees' spirits even higher.

Last year's Christmas breakfast raised just under $1,000.
