Oak Bay High placed on hold and secure after report of person ‘twirling’ a gun

Oak Bay High School was placed on a hold and secure on Friday, Nov. 3, according to the Oak Bay Police Department.

The secure hold took place at 10:55 a.m. and lasted for 30 minutes before being lifted.

The Oak Bay Police had received a report of a male sitting on a park bench in the 1700-block of Hampshire, “twirling” what was believed to be a handgun, according to the department’s social media accounts.

He has been described as a 16-year-old Asian male with long hair, a grey jacket and light-coloured pants.

Oak Bay Police conducted an extensive search of the area and no further reports have been made.
