One arrested following police operation in Victoria’s North Park neighbourhood

Officers were seen carrying rifles during an operation that lasted approximately 3 hours

On the late morning of Sept. 30, the Victoria Police Department (VicPD) conducted an operation in the 1000 block of N Park Street. At approximately 11 a.m., residents of 1025 N Park St. were asked to leave their homes as police surrounded the multi-unit residential building.

Several police vehicles, including unmarked units and an armoured vehicle from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, were on the scene, with officers seen carrying rifles.

A few residents standing on the sidewalk across the street told Black Press Media they had been waiting to return home for three hours. Police informed them they could safely return to their residences shortly before 2:30 p.m.

VicPD later confirmed in a written statement to Black Press Media “that one person was arrested” during the operation.
