West Shore RCMP say a 48-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested for allegedly obstructing a police officer, possession of stolen property and identity fraud.

RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Elements Casino on Sunday (Dec. 31), and officers believed stolen tools were inside the Ford F-150 truck.

Police say the man and woman were sitting inside the truck and allegedly provided officers with false identification.

RCMP searched the vehicle and seized multiple tools and electronics including virtual reality goggles, doorbell cameras and more.

“Police also recovered a combination of several stolen chequebooks, stolen identification cards, and stolen personal financial statements from over two dozen victims,” Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media relations officer. “We have already started contacting the victims in relation to this investigation, many of whom had previously reported their wallets as stolen.”

The male suspect was also arrested for allegedly possessing forged documents.
