A cause is unclear but fire consumed a pickup truck in Fernwood early Friday morning.
Victoria fire crews were called out March 15 around 1 a.m. to find a pickup on fire on Denman Street.
While the crew of Engine 1 wasted no time deploying the bumper line and using tank water to subdue the flames, heat made the front tires of the vehicle explode, the department explained in a social media post.

The truck’s cab and bed were both fully involved but the fire didn’t take long to extinguish. Fortunately the vehicle was parked on the street and away from harming anything else with the tire explosions or fire.
It’s the third vehicle fire in about 10 days.
Victoria crews extinguished an RV fire that engulfed the vehicle in the early hours of Monday (March 11) on Balfour Avenue. Residents in the area may have heard tires blowing in that fire as well.
Victoria also put out a car fire on March 4 on Kings Road.
