PHOTOS: Vintage lovers flock to huge flea market in Victoria's downtown

17 vendors from Victoria and Vancouver fill the Victoria Public Market with curated treasures at one-day fair

Shoppers flocked to the Victoria Public Market on Friday as the Granville Flea Market returned for its third year.

From 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the one-day pop-up featured 17 vendors offering a wide range of vintage clothing, accessories, and collectibles.

Ten vendors hailed from Victoria, while seven made the trip from Vancouver.

Organizers anticipate that between 750 and 1,000 people will visit throughout the day.

Tickets were sold with staggered entry times to help manage the crowd in the upper level of the Public Market. The approach maintained a steady flow of buyers without overwhelming the space, while still offering a laid-back shopping experience.

"We couldn't have been happier to spend our Friday here," said regular attendee, Colin Mast. "We have come to all of the events in Victoria so far, and never leave empty-handed. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and the line is always worth it."

Others, like Shannon Park, see the market as a special occasion worth planning around.

"Our vintage scene is awesome in Victoria, but when an event like this comes, our group of friends always does whatever we can to make it out to it," she said. "We love taking our time curating the perfect outfit, and waiting outside in the sunshine makes any wait worthwhile."

Organizers have not yet announced a date for the next Victoria event, but the positive turnout suggests it won’t be long before it returns.
