Victoria police have seized a kilogram of fentanyl, a loaded handgun and about $40,000 in cash from a supportive housing facility on Swift Street.

The bust took place just after 6:30 p.m. on May 14, when VicPD’s Strike Force, with help from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a unit in the 400-block of Swift Street.

A 62-year-old man was arrested at the scene for possession for the purpose of trafficking and on outstanding warrants from Victoria and Saanich. He remains in custody.

In a press release, Chief Del Manak stated that the presence of fentanyl and firearms in a facility meant to help vulnerable people was “particularly concerning.”

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
