Victoria firefighters attend the Saturday (July 6) blaze at Quazars Arcade in Victoria.

A popular Victoria arcade that features many refurbished and rare games, expects to reopen Monday after a weekend fire.
A smoke-filled room greeted Quazar’s Arcade staff Saturday (July 6) flagging the blaze smouldering in the Government Street building.

“This fire appears to have been started on street level outside and spread to a pillar which flanks our entrance. It is our hope that this was an unintentional act,” reads an update on social media.

“The firefighters had the incredible foresight to move our beloved games from the danger zone before turning on the hose. It was because of these actions that our collection of games remains almost completely intact, albeit a little smoky.”

Quazar's opened at 1215 Government St. in 2018. The basement-suite establishment hosts 20 arcade games and 20 pinball machines, some vintage, some new and most remastered after fixing up machines long stored in peoples’ garages.

The arcade remained closed Sunday – suggesting folks hit its sister Pinhalla Pinball Pizzeria in Chinatown to get their game fix in the meantime – with hopes of reopening Monday.
