Video footage of vandals damaging a crosswalk in Langford may lead to charges after West Shore RCMP says it has identified suspects in the June incidents.

On June 27, West Shore RCMP released surveillance images of two suspects spray painting graffiti on the crosswalk directly in front of Spencer Middle School at 1026 Goldstream Ave.

The graffiti, quickly cleaned up by the city, included profanity and is being investigated as mischief under the criminal code.

With suspects identified, the police issued a statement July 3 saying the videos have been removed. RCMP continue to investigate.

The June 24 and 25 incidents – both acts captured on camera at 2:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. respectively – were the latest damage to the Pride flag crosswalk outside the school.

The crosswalk celebrating Langford’s diversity and honouring the 2SLGBTQIA+ community was installed on Feb. 13 and vandalized within hours.
