Coffee and cute animals seem to be the winning combination at Royal Roads University as a group of fourth-year business administration students launched an online coffee retailer.
"Our mission is to combine the love for great coffee with love for animals, creating a community that thrives on making a positive impact," said Steve Smith, co-founder of Purrfect Grinds Coffee.
Once the six-week project is completed, the group of students will hand the reigns over to the Victoria Humane Society (VHS) so they can continue to operate their store and generate revenue as the group will give 100 per cent of the profits go to the VHS. That way, each customer can see the difference they are making in their community.
In a press release, Purrfect Grinds Coffee said the beans are sourced from local Vancouver Island producers. The group offers discounted local delivery and is partnering with MorningStar Coffee in Langford to create an exclusive blend for Purrfect Grinds Coffee.
"It is important for the community and beyond to know that this is not a profit-venture for us as founders," said Nabhan Ayoob, co-founder of Purrfect Grinds Coffee. "It's a community-centric, revenue-generating initiative for our chosen charitable partner, the Victoria Humane Society."
