Saanich moves into the next phase of construction on Shelbourne Street

The Shelbourne Street Improvement Project will be broken into three phases so that crews can upgrade Shelbourne Street from Torquay Drive to North Dairy Road over several years. (District of Saanich)

On Oct. 1, the District of Saanich announced moving into its third phase of the Shelbourne Street Improvements Project. This phase will take place between Pear Street and Garnet Road.

This phase includes significant underground service replacements, new service connections to properties, protected bike lanes, new and improved sidewalks additional crosswalks and more. 

Completion of the third phase is expected by spring 2026.

Phase 1 of the project concluded in 2022; Phase 2 began in August of that year and will run alongside Phase 3 until December. By the end of 2024, the project aims to improve Shelbourne Street and its surroundings with upgraded utilities, bike paths, sidewalks, traffic signals, and improved street lighting.
