Central Saanich police have arrested and charged Thomas "Bruce" Calverley (also known as Bruce Peterson) on four counts of fraud and one count of motor vehicle theft after a "lengthy" multi-jurisdictional investigation.

Calverley was arrested on Feb. 29 and charged on May 21. He remains in custody as of July 3.

A Facebook page is dedicated to helping find victims of Calverley's alleged offences, with many stories from people alleging they were defrauded by Calverley over four decades. Posts on the page are also providing regular updates on his court appearances.

Further details of the charges are limited, and Central Saanich police have yet to respond to a request for more information.

Police did report that a stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner as a result of the investigation.

"The Central Saanich Police Service is releasing this information for public awareness and encouraging any other victims of fraud to make a report to their local police department," the official statement from police reads.
