Saanich police (SPD) are issuing a warning about a recent scam involving fraudulent phone calls from individuals claiming to be officers with the police department.
Recently, multiple reports have been received from residents who reported receiving calls that appear to come from SPD's non-emergency number. The callers have been asking for financial information, which is a common tactic used in scams.
Saanich police emphasize that they will never request financial details over the phone. Anyone who receives one of these suspicious calls is urged to hang up immediately and report it to the police at 250-475-4321, quoting file number 25-4482.
