The family of Scott Keanie, who died July 15, will reopen his beloved restaurant, Scotty's Dog Shack, on Thursday, Aug. 1.
"Together, we will carry forward his legacy, one hot dog at a time," the family said in an update on the restaurant's page.
Keanie was rushed to hospital on July 4 after he suffered a severe heart attack. In the days that followed, the Sidney community rallied behind Keanie and his family, raising nearly $16,000 to help them keep the restaurant open.
The community came together at Keanie's celebration of life on July 26, where friends and family were encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts to honour the local legend.
"Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to our friends, family, and the incredible community for the unwavering support we have continued to receive," said the family in the recent Facebook post. "Your heartfelt posts, messages, visits and the overwhelming attendance at Scott's memorial have touched us deeply.
"With the support of the wonderful community in Sidney, we are determined to honour Scott's memory by reopening Scotty’s Dog Shack ... continuing to foster the same warmth and camaraderie that he valued."
Scotty's Dog Shack will reopen on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m.
