Saanich Police arrested multiple suspects after a firearm was discharged on Tuesday evening (Aug. 26).
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Shelbourne Street and Torquay Drive following reports that a person in a vehicle had fired a handgun into the air after a brief interaction with another individual.
Police say the suspect vehicle returned while officers were speaking with witnesses. The driver and passengers were taken into custody without incident.
The Integrated Canine Service assisted in a search of the surrounding area, during which a loaded handgun was recovered near where the vehicle had been stopped.
Saanich Police’s Major Crime Unit is now leading the investigation. Detectives believe the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
