A 39-year-old man has been arrested after a cart full of household items was stolen from the Langford Walmart.

West Shore RCMP received a report of the theft on Tuesday (Feb. 13) at approximately 7:40 p.m.

The complainant said they saw a man leave the store without paying for items including an air fryer, coffee maker, vacuum and cookware.

RCMP say a suspect drove away with the items, and the complainant called police right away and provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle.

Officers were in the area and located a suspect vehicle within minutes. The lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested for theft under $5,000, and all the products were recovered.

Police say the suspect showed signs of drug impairment, and an officer found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The suspect failed a field sobriety test and received a 24-hour driving prohibition. The vehicle was towed.

The suspect was released from custody on an undertaking with a pending court date.
