Suspended driver stopped doing nearly triple the speed limit in Oak Bay

2 drivers nabbed in 2 days doing double speed limits on Oak Bay streets

Two drivers face hefty fines alongside towing and impound fees after doubling down on speed limits in Oak Bay.

The first driver was found doing nearly triple the speed limit on Beach Drive at 114 km/h in a 40 zone, when they were stopped by Oak Bay Police on July 24 just before 5 p.m. The person at the wheel was found to be prohibited from driving, the department said in its weekly briefing. The driver was also ticketed for excessive speed ($483).

The second driver was stopped just before 2 a.m. on July 26, travelling at 130 km/h in a posted 50 zone on Foul Bay Road.

While also facing a ticket for excessive speed, the driver was also ticketed for failing to display their N ($109) and driving contrary to restrictions ($109).

Both vehicles were towed.
