Victoria-based Chelsea Green has been crowned champion of the WWE Raw Women’s Tag Team. Green made history taking home the belt Monday night alongside Sonya Deville, as it was their first duo win.

It was a record milestone as Green and Deville became the first WWE Tough Enough female competitors to win the titles, as well as the second WWE women’s tag team to originate in WWE Tough Enough history.

The winning duo faced off against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan, who were setting out to defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Green and Deville based the match around the challengers keeping out Rodriguez, while isolating Morgan and working over her knee as she was fresh coming off an injury.

Although it was almost anyone’s game towards the end of the match, Green came with an ugly smackdown and Deville followed with a running knee leading to a three count and would declare the team as new victors.

On Twitter, hip-hop artist T-Pain congratulated the pair, saying “you ladies killed it, Congrats! Show was amazing!”

That wasn’t the only congratulations, as former tag team partner with Deville, Mandy Rose applauded the winning team. Although Deville and Rose turned into rivals at one point she shared a “well deserved” on Twitter being real life friends with both Deville and Green.

It only took seven years for Green to get where she is today as she has said in an interview with 411mania in 2018 that, “I knew nothing about pro wrestling. Not a thing. I had never seen a pro wrestling ring until I was maybe around grade 11.”

The born islander lived in Calgary briefly training at the Storm Wrestling Academy in Calgary and said “Lance Storm taught me everything that I know.”

Green’s first stop on her WWE champion tour is the premiere of American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes.
