Telus announced that they will invest $25 million in Victoria, Langford and Oak Bay this year to enhance wireless connectivity, and connect more homes and businesses to its PureFibre network as part of its $17 billion investment to expand its network infrastructure and operations across B.C.

They say the investment will fuel innovation, drive economic growth and support a greener future, while connecting families and communities to the 5G and PureFibre networks.

As part of the investments, the Telus Vancouver Island Community Board said they have surpassed $6 million in giving since 2007 to charitable organizations supporting youth. Last year, they said board granted $400,000 to 31 charities dedicated to supporting youth, 21 health programs and 10 education programs.

“At Telus, we know that a reliable and powerful network is essential in keeping British Columbians connected to the people, information and resources that matter most,” said Darren Entwistle, president of Telus, in a news release. “These investments will ensure that our customers continue to benefit from the best network experience in the world, which facilitates crucial, generational changes in healthcare, education, teleworking, the environment and our digital economy and societies. Perhaps most importantly, our networks also bridge digital and socioeconomic divides, so every member of our society has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”
