Break out the toques and thermoses – the Royal Victoria Yacht Club lighted sail past hits the seas Friday (Dec. 1).

The annual parade of lighted boats gathers at 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Bay club and expects to leave around 6:45 p.m.

Sailors will cruise their decked-out vessels past Cattle Point around 7 p.m., then proceed past Willows Beach by about 7:15 before returning to the Cattle Point area. Saanich residents will get a glimpse when the boats parade past 10 Mile Point and sail past Gyro Park around 7:45 p.m.

The fleet of an expected 26 boats will then return to the Oak Bay club by 8 p.m.

As always, the sail past is weather-dependent.
