UPDATE: Traffic eases after early morning Highway 17 crash in Saanich

An accident near Royal Oak Drive occurred shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday

Highway 17 is clear again after a crash just south of Elk Lake ground traffic to a stand-still early Wednesday (Sept. 3).

According to PulsePoint, a 911-connected app that can immediately inform users of emergencies occurring around them, the vehicle incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. close to Royal Oak Drive.

Google Maps logged heavy slowdowns in the area, and Drive BC cameras at Royal Oak Drive showed lines of traffic in northbound lanes as of 8:21 a.m.
