A man faces a charge of assault after allegedly spitting in the face of a woman.
An officer on patrol just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 16) saw a man spit in the face of a woman pushing a baby stroller near the intersection of Yates and Quadra streets, VicPD said in a news release.
The victim also told the officer that the man had spit in her face. A suspect was arrested at the scene and held for a court appearance.
“This suspect was arrested because of the quick actions of an officer doing routine patrols downtown,” VicPD Const. Terri Healy said in a subsequent news release. “We will continue to do proactive police work in the downtown core and beyond to ensure people can feel safe in their community. We also thank the victim for coming forward and assisting with our investigation.”
