Vancouver strike won't impact Greater Victoria's HandyDART service

HandyDART service for the entire Victoria Regional Transit System will remain at current levels

The strike that's disrupted all but essential HandyDART service in Vancouver has led to inquiries regarding the possibility of similar action in other parts of the province where the service is provided.

A spokesperson for BC Transit confirmed that HandyDART service for the entire Victoria Regional Transit System, including Sooke and East Sooke, remains at its current levels of service heading into the fall.

HandyDART provides accessible, door-to-door shared transit service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevent them from using fixed-route transit without assistance.

It is available for registered customers Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight, and on
Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

An online booking system is now available for Victoria handyDART registrants, and more information is available at https://www.bctransit.com/victoria/schedules-and-maps/handydart/ .
