The Victoria Holistic Death Care Community is hosting Doing Death Different: A Community Marketplace on Oct. 27. This event will offer a chance to explore holistic and alternative resources for death and grief care.
The event will cover a wide range of topics, including preparing personal affairs, planning medical and personal comfort wishes, and understanding the role of a death doula.
Attendees can also learn about eco-friendly funeral options, home funerals, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), and various end-of-life rituals.
Additionally, the marketplace will showcase over 20 exhibitors selling locally produced items.
"Death is the only guarantee in life, yet we talk about it the least,” said Karla Kerr, funeral director and death doula. “This event offers a safe space for people to learn and find resources for a conscious approach to end-of-life."
The event will be held at Victoria’s Royal Canadian Legion (411 Gorge Rd. E.) from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is $5, and free parking is available.
