The investigation into Michael Dunahee’s disappearance remains one of the largest missing person investigations in Canada and continues to be active today – 33 years later.

On March 24, 1991 around 12:30 p.m., four-year-old Michael Dunahee disappeared from the area of the Blanshard School playground, just a short distance away from his family.

The area was flush with families and spectators on hand for a touch football game. Despite an extensive search the boy was never located.

On the anniversary Sunday, those supporting the boy’s family, and Child Find B.C., took to the streets of Esquimalt for the annual Keep The Hope Alive walk and run. Child Find B.C. is a non-profit dedicated to finding missing children and preventing child abductions.

Hundreds of tips have been received and continue to be investigated, VicPD said in a media release ahead of the 33rd anniversary of Dunahee’s disappearance on March 24.
