Victoria panel to discuss downtown's future at inaugural City Talks event

Experts to explore challenges and opportunities facing the city's core

A panel of local experts is set to discuss the state and future of downtown Victoria at the inaugural City Talks event on Oct. 24. The discussion, titled "City Talks: Downtown - Dying, Surviving, or Thriving?" will take place at theDock: Centre for Social Impact on Cormorant Street.

Organized by Sidewalking Victoria, theDock - Centre for Social Impact, and the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network, the event aims to address the pressing issues facing Victoria's downtown core.

Thomas Guerrero, author of Sidewalking Victoria, emphasized the timeliness of the discussion, stating, "There has never before been a time when the state of downtown Victoria has been as huge a part of the local zeitgeist."

The panel will feature diverse perspectives from local experts, including Michael Demakiling from the Victoria Downtown Residents Association, architect Christine Lintott, and Wendy Welch from the Vancouver Island School of Art. Eric Bramble of the Lisa Gene and Eric Show will moderate the discussion.
